KIM DE ROY

The ´Clinician´

My background is in Physical Therapy and Prosthetics & Orthotics. I have also been using a prosthetic leg for the past 27 years. Many of my physical and functional achievements on my prosthesis were obtained by trial and error and fortunate selection of prosthetic technology. I envision a future where users of assistive devices gain objective insight in their performance with their prosthesis or orthosis as a baseline for system selection and rehabilitative focus. ProRehab is intended to become the tool that helps people achieve their optimal functionality.

The ´Engineer´

As a Mechanical & Biomedical Engineer, I have always been passionate about human biomechanics. The challenge to capture, interpret and translate data for purpose of clinical assessment and objectification of outcomes is one I will gladly take on with the ProRehab system.

The field of prosthetics and orthotics has fascinated me for a long time and I am excited to contribute to the advancement of rehabilitation and performance of users of such technology.

The ´Programmer´

The ProRehab-project has given me a new perspective on the power of coding, programming and software development. The ability to provide people the opportunity to learn more about how they use their prosthetic or orthotic device is humbling. My aim is to provide clarity in complex outcome data and give guidance to support device selection and utilisation. My task is complete when clinicians and users experience improved quality of life thanks to the objective data provided by the ProRehab system.
